First and Second Grades
We celebrated Black History Month in the computer lab this week. We are fortunate to own a subscription to BrainPop and BrainPop, Jr. at Lovett, so we took advantage of this subscription and watched several BrainPop movies about famous and influential African Americans. Of course this task did not take the entire 45 minutes, so they had some experimentation time for the remaining 10 minutes of class. They had fun watching movies of their choice and completing the corresponding quizzes. The second graders enjoyed taking a look at some of the more advance online games that BrainPop now offers. Parents, if you would like your child to use BrainPop or BrainPop, Jr. at home on a computer, iPod Touch, or iPad, please email me for our login information. I am happy to share! Here is a short video explaining how your child might find the BrainPop site from Lovett's homepage if he or she is having trouble.
Third Grade
We are moving right along with our iMovie-making! I have been so pleased with the level of engagement from our third graders. This A-G Day rotation we worked on editing photos using Doozla and Preview. We talked about how sometimes we gather images from online sites, but there might be one or two details about the image that we want to alter or adjust for our movie-making purposes. Preview is a great tool for doing such editing, and Doozla is a nice program for taking self-portraits or setting-type pictures and then editing them. Here's an example:
Once we get our images exactly the way we want them, it's time to for us to movie into actually using iMovie, so stay tuned!
